ALASKA ROAD TRIP...

8,450 miles - 22 days    "...CarTrek! To boldly go, where no Cobra has gone before"

TRAVEL NOTES:

FUEL STOPS: Based on 180-200 miles. With 15.5 usable gallons with a 17.1 gallon tank means a minimum average of  12.9 mpg is needed on the highway. The common minimum fuel mileage of 14.5 mpg average provides a travel distance of 225 miles.

MAXIMUM HIGHWAY DISTANCES: If a lot of ground needs to be covered, a potential maximum of 825 miles could be covered driving 6am-6pm @ 75 mph with 4 fuels stops @ 15 min each. Even on the longest days anticipated, none come even near this amount. But it is in the "reserve bag if needed.

AVERAGE HIGHWAY DISTANCES: During a less rushed day yet with efficient highway mileage needing to be put down, 700 miles could be covered driving 7am-5pm @ 75 mph with 3 fuels stops @ 15 min each. Speed limits in Canada are lower and highway distances covered in the same time frame would be  550 miles @ 60 mph.

AVERAGE BI-WAY DISTANCES: A mix of rural highway and biway travel is slower, and an average of 350 miles is expected driving 8am-4pm @ 50 mph with 2 fuels stops @ 15 min each and a lunch stop @ 30 min.

MINIMUM BI-WAY DISTANCES: Remote back road travel is slow, and an average of 245 miles is expected driving 8am-4pm @ 35 mph with 2 fuels stops @ 15 min each and a lunch stop @ 30 min.
